First workshop on the implementation of LYSIS program - INTERREG V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 2014-2020

On Friday 15 December 2017 at the Municipality's offices, the first workshop was held to start the implementation of the approved project: "Joint actions for the development and implementation of new technologies for the optimal management of water resources in the urban environment". Executives and political staff of our Municipality and of our partners, namely the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, Drama, AUTh and Bulgaria's Active Youths have had the opportunity to get to know and discuss in a hot climate issues of trans-European cooperation.

The project to be implemented has a total budget of 739,955.00 € and a duration of 2 years. It is funded under Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020, in which our Municipality participates with three other partners and heads the Municipality of Drama. For the part of the project that will be implemented by our Municipality, a high-precision irrigation water saving system will be implemented in Dendropotamos Park and its future application will be studied in other areas.

In the context of the inaugural meeting each partner presented the work to be carried out and the methodology to be followed. At the same time, emphasis was placed on actions requiring horizontal co-operation involving all partners, so that no timetables fail. The presence of a representative from the Interreg Managing Authority, which set all the priorities and constraints of the program, was a catalyst and referred to the obligations of each partner under Community and national law.

The meeting was completed in an optimistic and cooperative climate and further actions were planned to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
